In this observational longitudinal multicentre study in patients with NIDCM, Dr Valentina Puntmann and colleagues revealed that noninvasive measures of diffuse myocardial disease by T1 mapping are able to identify patients at risk of all-cause mortality as well as heart failure. Using a T1 mapping methodology, we showed that native T1 is the strongest as well as independent predictor. Our findings provide a basis for a novel algorithm of clinical assessment and risk stratification of patients with NIDCM with a central role for native T1. Congratulations to Valentina and many thanks to collaborators in the International T1 CMR Multicentre Study for their hard work and support. Link to the paper |
