Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance in Cardiology Practice: A Concise Guide to Image Acquisition and Clinical Interpretation.

Dr Silvia Valbuena and colleagues provide a concise guide to CMR for every day clinical use. CMR is a versatile imaging modality that allows highly accurate, broad and in-depth assessment of cardiac function and structure and provides information on pertinent clinical questions in diseases such as ischemic heart disease, nonischemic cardiomyopathies, and heart failure, as well as allowing unique indications, such as the assessment and quantification of myocardial iron overload or infiltration, in a time- and resource efficient manner.
Congratulations!

T1-Mapping and Outcome in Nonischemic Cardiomyopathy
In this observational longitudinal multicentre study in patients with NIDCM, Dr Valentina Puntmann and colleagues revealed that noninvasive measures of diffuse myocardial disease by T1 mapping are able to identify patients at risk of all-cause mortality as well as heart failure. Using a T1 mapping methodology, we showed that native T1 is the strongest as well as independent predictor. Our findings provide a basis for a novel algorithm of clinical assessment and risk stratification of patients with NIDCM with a central role for native T1.
Congratulations to Valentina and many thanks to collaborators in the International T1 CMR Multicentre Study for their hard work and support
